GUNITE POOL CONSTRUCTION

What to know.

Gunite pool construction is a popular method of building in-ground swimming pools. It involves spraying a mixture of cement, sand, and water onto a framework of steel rebar or mesh, creating a solid and durable pool shell.

The process typically begins with excavation of the pool area and installation of the steel reinforcement framework. Then, a specialized nozzle is used to spray the gunite mixture onto the framework, building up the shell of the pool. After the gunite has been applied, it is typically left to cure for a few days before the interior finish is applied.

One of the advantages of gunite pool construction is that the design possibilities are virtually endless. Since the pool shell is created on site, it can be formed into any shape or size, and can be customized with features such as waterfalls, steps, and benches. Gunite pools also tend to be more durable than other types of pools, with a lifespan of 30 years or more.

However, gunite pool construction can be more expensive than other types of pools due to the complexity of the process and the specialized equipment and materials required. It also requires a longer construction timeline, typically taking several months from start to finish. Maintenance of a gunite pool can also be more involved, requiring regular cleaning and maintenance of the interior finish.
